The Company

The first rope was made by the founder of the Seil Baur company Abraham Vaisin on 23 October 1851 in Augsburg. His successors Sebastian and Georg Gollinger were performing their skills with other Augsburg ropemakers at the "Vierziger-Wiese" which even today is documented as the street of the ropemakers. Hans Baur sen. took over the company of the Golling siblings and moved production, offices and shop to Göggigen. Together with his son Hans Baur jun. he extended the production programme of traditional ropemaking: In addition to fiber and wire ropes they also produced drive belts for pantograph and milling machines.

Between 1972 and 1988 Hans Baur jun. not only promoted the development of the department of drive belts. He also enlarged the product line of load-securing devices with own patents. Under his leadership the Seil Baur company gained an international reputation as guarantor of quality and safety with its DRESBA-straps and WT-lifting straps. By moving to the industrial area of Lechhausen and building a modern production facility the final step was made in September 1993 to become a modern industrial enterprise with optimised cycles of production and administration.
